Safe Schools

Mary Wright Public School
Safe and Inclusive School Plan 2025/2026

At Mary Wright, we are committed to providing a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment, where student’s, staff’s and our school community’s voices are heard and valued. Our goal is to strive and continue to promote and foster respect, acceptance, and empathy in an attempt to mitigate issues such as bullying, harassment and potential loss of learning opportunities due to negative behaviours. Our staff, students, parents, and community will work together as a team to make our school a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for everyone.

Key Priorities and Goals

Ensuring positive relationships, focussed on mutual respect and shared values:
Our overall focus will remain on building positive and healthy relationships. We will strive to accomplish this by working with students, helping them to recognize and resolve conflicts, while supporting them in rebuilding positive and mutually respectful relationships.

Key Actions or Strategies

Throughout the year, we will:

  1. Share our motto, "Here at Mary Wright we Think Wright, Do Wright, Live Wright" with students, staff and our school community and model what that looks like at school (common language, posters, connect to monthly character trait assemblies and embed it into our daily practice).
  2. Explicitly teach students conflict resolution skills (Brave Education strategies).
  3. Continue to use our problem-solving wheel to help students navigate and resolve conflicts.
  4. Use restorative approaches to help students build and repair fractured relationships and demonstrate empathy towards others.
  5. Validate students feelings and lived experiences. Help them see that they are safe, appreciated and respected here at Mary Wright P.S.

Problem-Solving Wheel

See where your conversation takes you. If further problem-solving is needed, use the wheel to support and influence change.
