Mary Wright Public School
2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
This year we will continue to focus on building healthy relationships.
We are doing this to provide students with the skills to resolve conflicts and improve their overall well being at school.
Key Actions or Strategies
Throughout the year, we will:
-
Explicitly teach students conflict resolution skills.
-
Continue to use a problem solving wheel to further develop a common language to discuss conflicts.
-
Use restorative approaches to help students build and repair relationships and demonstrate empathy toward others.
-
Tap into community resources (i.e. BRAVE Education) to safely test and translate new skills and engage students by validating their identities and lived experiences.
Community and Home Connections
-
Ask your child how they use the problem solving wheel to resolve conflicts at school.
-
Encourage your child/children to use “I” statements when they are upset.
